I posted some new product in my shop last night. Just three mini paintings and an 8 X 10 for now. I have to get some more pictures taken and the weather hasn’t been cooperating with me to take art outside to photograph. I have several more paintings, charcoal, and pastel pieces to post. “Her Sunflower”

Day thirty and the end of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is another Sunflower. I enjoyed painting the one yesterday so much that I decided to paint another. I decided to have some fun with this one though. I used Titanium white and Crimson on this piece. I just mixed different amounts of each for different sections. I used it straight out of the tube in certain areas. I love how it turned out and think it’s just fun. It would be great for a little girls room or have a big one hanging behind a sofa. It’s really a fun piece and glad this is the one I’m ending the challenge with. Let me know what you think

“Sunflower”

Day twenty nine of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is another Sunflower. I did a bigger variety this time though and I LOVE how it turned out. It’s honestly my favorite one out of the whole month! I love Sunflowers and they instantly make me think of Summer. My favorites are the yellow ones even though they have so many different colors available out there. You can’t see it in the picture, but this piece has a lot of texture in the middle section. I used the opposite end of my brush to do the seed area to make make the dots. I want to do a bigger one eventually. They just make me happy. Let me know what you think.

“New Rose”

Day twenty seven of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is yet another Rose. Yes you heard me correctly, another Rose. It won’t be the last one either for this challenge or future art pieces. I just love painting and drawing Roses. I do have so bigger projects planned in the near future. Probably including Roses. I really like how this one came out. I love the contrast of the pink and orange with a hint of the background peeking out from above. A lovely periwinkle like color. Just a lovely piece. Let me know what you think!

“Purple Tulips”

Day twenty six of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is another Tulip. It’s not my best work, but this piece was one where I had to do two in the same day because I was sick the day before. It’s not horrible for a rush job though. I really didn’t put much time into this piece, so it suffered. I do love Tulips and their hippy attitudes just swaying back and forth in the wind with no care. I mentioned that in a previous Tulip painting post. I will say this piece has nice movement. Purple is my favorite color. Which is interesting because I love white flowers. There’s just something so pure about them. Let me know what you think.

“Beneath the Magnolia”

Day twenty five of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is another Magnolia. These are one of my favorite tree’s. Like I mentioned in one of the other magnolia painting posts. My Grandma and Great Grandma have them in their yards. It just makes me think of them and the South where I live right now. It’s just a southern tree. I just picture debutantes sitting beneath them sipping sweet tea be wooed by many a suitor. There’s a romance about them and I smile every time I see one. I really like how this piece turned out. It really has some depth to it and I love how the stamen in the middle pops! I do need to go back in and lighten some area’s. The bottom left petal is bothering me, but I had to get it posted for the challenge. I will go back in and fix it before I post it for sale. Let me know what you think.

“Midas Rose”

Day twenty four of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is another Rose. See I told you there would be other’s! I’m sure it won’t be the last either. I wanted to do something different with this Rose and I love the outcome. I love all the warm colors. The yellows, oranges, and golds. Some nice earthy browns for the shading and white highlights. It’s just lovely, well to me anyway. It’s almost abstract with how close up it is. Let me know what you think.

“Red Rose Red”

Day twenty three of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is yet another Rose. There’s going to be a few more after this one just so you know! I just love painting Roses! They are such elegant graceful flowers. I can’t wait to have my own Rose garden one day. I’ll never run out of photo references then. Oh what a happy day that will be! Anyway back to chatting about the piece. I know I already did one red Rose, but I wanted to do another one that had deeper colors. I think this one turned out  nicely and I love the hits of red orange in the piece. I did a lot of dark shadowing on this one with black.

“Little Sunflower”

Day 22 of the 30 paintings in 30 days. Today’s subject is a Sunflower. The reference photo was a picture my best friend Ashley took. She’s a photographer and takes awesome pictures. This was probably taken at her parents farm. This didn’t turn out exactly like I was wanting. I know what I did wrong though and next time it will look better. I just applied it too dark to begin with where the Ochre color is. At least the piece has some dimension with the one flower in front of the other. I would like to re do this one though sometime.

stainedglass Rose

This was my attempt at creating a stainedglass window in watercolors. It turned out OK, but it needs improving. I’ll be doing some more eventually trying to make them look better. I like the Rose itself, just not the whole thing together. Maybe I’ll cut out the rose and layer it onto another piece. That might be interesting. Definitely something to think about. I love painting and drawing Roses though! The edges started out orange and blue instead of  black. I’ll include a picture of before I painted over it. I think it helped a little bit. Let me know what you think! I’ll include some work in progress pictures also. The idea is a work in progress for sure though. I think I’m going to go fix something to eat and start work on a new piece!
