“Delicate Masculinity”

I did this piece once several month’s ago and decided to do it again to see how much I have improved. I loved his pose and wanted to do a better piece of it. This is one of those pieces I will be keeping for my personal collection. I love how muscular he is, but his pose is quite feminine and delicate. The curve in his back and his muscular chest pushed out. I think this is one of my favorite charcoal pieces I’ve done so far.

“Stretch”

I’ve been messing with charcoal again. I do enjoy doing the human form in charcoal. I think it really shows off the the shape of the body. This piece really captures the woman’s femininity. I think women who have some curve to them are more interesting to draw and paint. I think there’s more interest and texture. I appreciate all body types of course, but I have my favorite shapes and forms. Do you have any preferred body types you enjoy to paint or draw?

“Her Sunflower”

Day thirty and the end of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is another Sunflower. I enjoyed painting the one yesterday so much that I decided to paint another. I decided to have some fun with this one though. I used Titanium white and Crimson on this piece. I just mixed different amounts of each for different sections. I used it straight out of the tube in certain areas. I love how it turned out and think it’s just fun. It would be great for a little girls room or have a big one hanging behind a sofa. It’s really a fun piece and glad this is the one I’m ending the challenge with. Let me know what you think

“Sunflower”

Day twenty nine of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is another Sunflower. I did a bigger variety this time though and I LOVE how it turned out. It’s honestly my favorite one out of the whole month! I love Sunflowers and they instantly make me think of Summer. My favorites are the yellow ones even though they have so many different colors available out there. You can’t see it in the picture, but this piece has a lot of texture in the middle section. I used the opposite end of my brush to do the seed area to make make the dots. I want to do a bigger one eventually. They just make me happy. Let me know what you think.

“Rosey Rose”

Day twenty eight of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is yes you guessed it a Rose. I won’t do another one for the challenge I promise. I’ll give you a break. I love the contrast and how warm this piece is. You have the magenta against that lemon yellow. Just a nice piece. I did very contrasting highlights and shadows too. Not my favorite Rose, but it’s definitely the one with the most energy! It makes you feel alive just looking at it. Let me know what you think.

“New Rose”

Day twenty seven of the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. Today’s subject is yet another Rose. Yes you heard me correctly, another Rose. It won’t be the last one either for this challenge or future art pieces. I just love painting and drawing Roses. I do have so bigger projects planned in the near future. Probably including Roses. I really like how this one came out. I love the contrast of the pink and orange with a hint of the background peeking out from above. A lovely periwinkle like color. Just a lovely piece. Let me know what you think!
